A relaxed and thoroughly enjoyable day out at Polhill Garden Centre, one of the finest and most well regarded independent garden centres in the region and a genuine destination in its own right. If you have never visited Polhill before, you are in for a treat. This is not your average garden centre — it is a sprawling, beautifully presented showcase of everything that makes independent retail at its best so much more enjoyable than a trip to a faceless out of town superstore.
The plant displays alone are worth the visit, with an extraordinary range of indoor and outdoor plants, shrubs, trees and seasonal bedding laid out across immaculately kept growing areas. But Polhill goes well beyond plants. The gift hall is a wonderful browse, stocked with a carefully chosen selection of homewares, cards, candles, clothing and unique gift ideas that make it a brilliant destination for anyone looking for something a little special.
The café is popular and well worth a visit too, making this a day that lends itself perfectly to a leisurely pace. Come with a list, or come with no agenda at all — either way, you will find plenty to enjoy and almost certainly more to carry home than you originally intended.
