As told from the point of view of a child with behavioural difficulties, the intriguing tale begins with Christopher standing beside Mrs. Shears’ dead dog, which has been speared by a garden fork. Falling under suspicion for the dreadful deed, he records every fact gathered about the case in a book he is writing, in order to solve the mystery of who murdered Wellington.

While Christopher has an extraordinary brain, he has never ventured alone beyond the end of his road, detests being touched and distrusts strangers. But his detective work, although forbidden by his father, takes him on a frightening journey that upends his entire world.

Directed by War Horse’s Marianne Elliot, The Curious Incident Of The Dog in the Night-time opened at the National Theatre in August 2012 to critical acclaim. The show received praise across the board for its innovative movement by theatre company Frantic Assembly, and the striking geometric grid design of Olivier Award-winner Bunny Christie.

The Curious Incident Of The Dog in the Night-time is the winner of seven 2013 Olivier Awards, including Best New Play, Best Director for Marianne Elliot, Best Actor (Luke Treadaway) and Best Supporting Actress (Nicola Walker).
